As we celebrate Easter, it is important to highlight the symbolism of Easter in relation to our wellbeing. While we reflect on how the covid situation has adversely impacted so many people mentally, emotionally and physically let us briefly explore the meaning of Easter and how its symbolism connects our spirituality and wellbeing;
MEANING OF EASTER IN A NUTSHELL;
Easter is the season we remember the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ – We celebrate Easter because of what His death represents to us, and the significance of His resurrection to our wellbeing; He became the sacrificial lamb, ordained to die so that we may have live. He paid the ultimate price of a painful death so that we may receive abundant life; Consisting of Health & healing, Peace, Sound mind, Freedom and most importantly Salvation.
The vital key to these gracious gifts is only by believing and confessing His sacrificial act on the cross (Romans 10.9). The following scriptural verses buttress the significance of what Jesus Christ did and its benefit to us;
Healing: He Himself took our sicknesses and carried our diseases (Matthew 8.17). I am the Lord who heals you (Exodus 15.26). He took away all our afflictions and made us well (spiritually).
Peace: He was wounded for our transgressions, the chastisement for our peace was on Him and by His stripes we are healed’ (Isaiah 53.5). Healing and peace is all encompassing and relates to every form of physical, mental and emotional health conditions that takes your peace, including addictions.
Your emotions are magnetic forces that have the power to repel, or attract, positive or negative results into your life. To achieve continued success, you have to leverage on the principles of emotional success because principles never change.
What you do not have the power to attract, you do not have the power to retain,Knowing the right principles will give you the capacity to continue to attract the level of successyou want’ S. Adeyemi
In other words, when your success happens by accident and you have no clue how you achieved this success, you are more likely to loose it as you will not know how to retain it. The secret of achieving and retaining success is to know the principles that guarantee success. It is said that “Knowledge is power” implying that lack of knowledge can be detrimental. The scripture puts it this way ‘My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge’Hosea 4:6
Your success or failure is dependent on the action preceded by your emotion; In other words, your emotions will determine your actions.
When you have positive emotions or a cheerful disposition, you are healthier, stronger and more efficient because you make better decisions ‘Joy does good like medicine, but sorrow dries up the bones’ Proverbs 17:22
Whereas, the opposite is the case when you predominantly nurture negative emotions; such as, sadness, bitterness, sorrow etc. This takes a toll on your mental wellbeing and will inevitably affect your health and level of productivity. Often times, the occurrences in your life are mostly a direct results of your thoughts / emotions and the actions that follow.
‘You attract the physical equivalent of your most dominant thought’Napoleon Hill
During these times of uncertainty it is easy to get anxious and stressed about future outcomes and way forward, many are losing their means of livelyhood and their homes, not to mention losing loved ones.
‘Every dark cloud has a silver lining’.
Remember these words; ‘Every dark cloud has a silver lining’. This means no matter how bad the storms may appear, one should never feel hopeless because difficult times always precede better times if you keep hope alive.
Keeping HOPE alive is the first step to overcoming anxiety and stress, because hope focuses on the future and not your present negative circumstance. Hope is compatible to faith and always yields a good outcome because faith nurtures peace and hope. Whereas, fear is incompatible to faith because fear nurtures anxiety, stress and subsequently hopelessness.
Your thoughts are so powerful, you literally create what you are thinking. In other words, your dominant thoughts have the ability to create your reality.
Often we think thoughts are just some transient things that sweep through our mind, and mean nothing until physical action is taken. This is far from the truth. The truth is, action begins from the thoughts. Your thoughts create your imaginations and your imaginations create your life outcome.
‘As a man thinks in his heart, so is he’ Proverbs’ 28:7
As illustrated above, your desires or expectations first reflect in your thoughts and then create corresponding images. Once an image is formed and projected in your mind long enough, its planted in your heart and begins to grow. Then, sub-consciously and consciously you start to gravitate towards the physical equivalent of this image. This happens whether it is a positive image; i.e thinking intently of a nice vacation will get you preparing for one. Or you can plant and gravitate towards a negative thought, such as; criminal or perverse behaviour. Your thoughts are that powerful;
‘Guard your heart with all diligence for out of it flow the springs of your life’ Proverbs 4:23.
